Planning a stag weekend in Cardiff? You’ve made a good choice. The Welsh capital is the perfect place to celebrate the groom’s last weekend of freedom, with an epic nightlife scene and no end of fun activities for you all to enjoy in the daytime too.
One of the most important elements of any good stag do is getting the accommodation right. You don’t want to find yourselves stuck out on the edge of the city, miles from the bars and clubs. And neither do you want to find yourselves in some dodgy fleapit that looked like a bargain online but didn’t live up to expectations! As the stag organiser, that’s a lot of pressure.
Best men, fear not! This is where we come in. We’ve been organising stag do’s in Cardiff since 2004, and over the years we’ve built up a solid network of partners via which we can offer stag do accommodation to match every preference, need and budget. So whether you’re after something fancy, something functional without any thrills, or something that’s in-between the two, you can count on us.
All of our hotels are situated in the heart of the city, so you’ll be close to everything on offer, including shops, cafés, restaurants and the pulsating nightlife which will keep you and the boys busy until the early hours! You’ll also be conveniently located for the city’s central train station for those stags arriving into Cardiff by public transport.
Getting around Cardiff is a total doddle for groups celebrating a big stag do and there's multiple public transport options on offer, including buses and the Metro system. The bus network covers off most of Cardiff and is nicely priced. If you're looking to make a saving, there’s also the option to purchase group tickets and day passes, ideal for keeping your bank balance happy!
As for payment, there's a variety of ways to pay; download the Cardiff Bus mobile app and buy your tickets online, pay with your contactless card onboard the bus by tapping on and off, or simply purchase your fare from the driver using cash or card.
Alternatively, there's the Cardiff Metro system, which consists of light rail trains connecting different areas of the city. It's easy to use and is ideal if you're looking to head to the most popular locations, such as the city centre, Cardiff Bay, and the airport.
Finally, there's also plenty of taxis around the city, perfect for those who prefer a more personalised service or are after a convenient way to get home after the big night out! There’s serveral companies available, or you can book an UBER.
Driving into Cardiff for your weekend? If so, it's good to know that you'll have plenty of parking options available; there’s loads of car parks in the city centre and Cardiff Bay.
Those looking for short stay car parks should head to Westgate Street car park and the St. David's centre car park. These car parks are ideal for those who plan to park for a few hours and explore the city centre. On the other hand, if you're looking for a long stay, then there's several car parks available around the city. For 24 hours access, consider the NCP car park located on Dumfries Place - it’s also within walking distance of Cardiff Queen Street station. There's also Cardiff Airport car park, where you'll be able to park up for a few days and hop on public transport to get yourselves to the city centre.
No change? No worries! Some areas around the city offer cashless parking via the use of apps or online platforms, where you'll be able to pay without purchasing actual tickets. And if you want to be really prepared, you could even pre-book your parking space in Cardiff ahead of time!
Do remember that parking fees and regulations will vary based on your chosen car park, so make sure you check full details before parking up. If you need more info on parking in Cardiff, we'd recommend heading to the Visit Cardiff website
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Points in Cardiff
Got an electric vehicle? Then you’ll definitely need to know where keep things charged up. Cardiff boasts around 60+ EV charging points, so chances are you'll never be too far from one. We’d recommend heading to a website such as Charge Finder to locate your nearest charging point.
It's time to book your stag do accommodation in Cardiff, and if you're not sure where to start, then we're here to help! With options for every budget, there's nothing to worry about! If you're a group looking to save some cash and still have a great time, then how about staying in one of Cardiff's top hostels? There's a few available, but we'd particularly recommend The Bunkhouse, which offers affordable dormitory-style rooms slap bang in the city centre. It's also great way to meet other guests and travellers, all while enjoying a lively atmosphere and saving a pretty penny.
If you’d prefer the convenience and comfort of a hotel, but still have a max price in mind, then we've got you covered. Citrus Hotel Cardiff is a great choice, as it offers clean and comfortable rooms with modern amenities for a decent price. There's also the Travelodge, which offers multiple hotels in the city. Both of these options will provide a comfortable stay and will keep your bank balance happy too.
So there you have it; whether you fancy the social atmosphere of one of Cardiff's hostels or would prefer the simplicity of an wallet friendy hotel, you'll find your ideal accommodation right here through The Stag Company!
All of our accommodations are situated within an easy walk of approximately 10-20 minutes, from the city centre and the nightlife. At worst, it will be a short taxi ride into town. We have stag hotels in Cardiff that are close to all the key areas such as Cardiff Bay and the Castle Quarter.
Prices here are very reasonable. On top of that, we work with a wide range of hotel chains and independents across Cardiff to ensure that we have something to suit every group's budget. From your simple, no-frills properties that offer you a good night's sleep and little more, to more luxurious hotels that'll ensure a higher level of comfort for the weekend.
Yes, many of the hotels we work with offer their guests on-site parking either included, or at a small supplement. Let us know at the time of booking if you need parking so we can ensure that we find you the right place. And note also that there are plenty of good, secure public car parks around the city.
Most of the hotels we use for our Cardiff stag groups will offer a hot or cold breakfast every morning for their guests, either included in the room rate or at a small supplement. The trick is to be up in time...and to have the level of hangover where a Full English will help rather than hinder the day ahead! Alternatively, as you'll be accommodated close to the city centre, you won't have too far to walk for a decent cafe.
Our general rule of thumb is to get your initial deposit down as early as you can. That allows us to start making arrangements on your behalf. If your Cardiff stag weekend happens to coincide with a big weekend in the city, such as a Six Nations match, then hotels fill up some time in advance, so it makes sense to book as soon as possible.
