Gin Tasting Masterclass
Let’s get straight to it, if your opinion on gin is that only your grandmother drinks it – you’re way out. Gin’s been popular for centuries with the Great British drinking public. The term ‘Dutch courage’ comes from English soldiers fighting the Spanish in the Netherlands and getting drunk on Dutch genever gin beforehand. And since then it’s been a popular drink with men. The likes of Hemingway and Humphrey Bogart drank it. It’s even a key ingredient in James Bond’s favourite cocktail. Still think it’s only your nan who drinks it?
Gin tasting is a perfect activity for a big group of lads, for example family as well as friends, who might not all know one another. The hands on atmosphere (and plenty of gin) has a way of getting chins wagging and the good times flowing.
The Brewhouse and Kitchen is an ideal spot for stag parties in Cardiff, where you can embrace the groom's love for gin with this masterclass. Your gin expert will welcome you into the bar and begin explaining the itinerary for the day and going through the drinks you will all be trying. Everyone in the group will get to try five different gins, all varying in taste and botanicals.
You can also expect some nibbles on the table for the group, so you don't get peckish during the boozy workshop. You will also get a full mean from the Academy menu. Once the class is done, you'll all receive a G&T to finish off, because it would be rude not to! With the food order, you may be required to pre-order if you have a group bigger than 15 people, to make sure they have the ingredients in place for everyone. All of the details regarding this will be shared on the partyhub. There are vegetarian and vegan food options available, as well as gluten free options.
This is a weekend only activity, while on a Saturday it can be booked at 2pm or 5pm, as well as on Sundays at 4pm if you're still standing by then. The class tends to take up to two hours, but might vary slightly between groups, how many questions pop-up and how long everyone takes to sip on their gin.
