How Long Does A Stag Do Last?

It's time to plan out your legendary weekend with the lads, but before you work out where you're going and what you're doing, you're stuck with the question of how long do you go for? Well, the average stag weekend lasts 2 days (51%), but we also have 34% being 3 days, 12% being 1 day and 3% being 4 or more days.

It should also be stated that whether you're staying in the UK or heading abroad is the big differentiator, as when people have to take a flight, you spend a significant portion of your weekend in airports, therefore you'd want a 3 day trip to make the most of your time away. Alternatively, closer to home people book it, shorter their stag party is.

So What Is The Structure Of A Stag Weekend?

Let's give you a stereotypical stag weekend that we may have booked over the past twenty years. You've packed your bags and you head off around 10:30am to get your train, which will take you 3 hours till you arrive at your destination, which might be Liverpool or Bristol. 

Different hotels will have different rules about when you can check-in, but we can provide this information for you beforehand when you book your stag friendly hotel with us. If you can't check-in yet, they will often allow you to put your bag in a safe area, as you mingle with the group. Most will meet on the train with a few heading in the same direction, before properly meeting up at the hotel or hostel. The benefit to the hostel is you can all share a room, which builds a bond between everyone and stops people from disappearing off for a nap (that happens surprisingly often).

Day 1 is critical. This is the day where nobody is hungover and moaning, so you want to do something active, which will be memorable and photoesque. This could be a game of bubble football or a boat trip around the area. 

The first day is also important as it is the moment everyone meets for the first time. There will be relatives, friends and people from your partners family who might be there, meeting for the first time, so it's important to make sure nobody feels alone or shy, therefore a team bonding activity is normally the best.

Once you've done your adrenaline pumping activity, the drinks are never far away, so we'd recommend heading to a games bar if it's available in the city you book. It could be a pub filled with arcade games or a cricket bar with a chance to bat and beat the high score.

Following this, we can book you into a nightclub, which will mean you will all get a queue jump (which is desperately needed as you don't want to spend 40 minutes queueing outside desperate for a wee). It will also cover your entry fee, so you don't all have to start chipping in for each other. You could then get a booth package, which will mean you get a private reserved area where you can all sit and chat, drinking together and a central point so you don't lose each other. You may get a host with this reservation, meaning no queueing at the bar, which is always a nightmare, plus you can arrange for a big bottle of booze to be on the table, plus plenty of mixers, or a whole set of beers on arrival.

Later that night you may want to take the groom to a strip joint for a lap dance. Try your best to find a dominatrix so he can get whipped in front of the whole group, you all deserve a few laughs.

The next day, once you've all woken up, showered and had breakfast (or lunch depending on the time people wake up), you will want to head on to your first activity of day-2. The most popular activity for day 2 is go-karting, which seems to be on virtually every stag do. These daytime activities can bring out everyone's competitive side, while they can also help the group to bond. After this, you may want one other activity, or you may want to head for food, so we can book you into a restaurant and arrange for the food to be paid for in advance. You don't want to start an activity too early on day 2 as there will always be a few people who struggle to get out of bed after partying till 5am.

When in the restaurant, everyone will have their first pint, so things may start to deteriorate quickly. You might want to add a bevvie based activity after this, such as a beer bike tour of the city, or a brewery tour, or maybe even some gin tasting. This will all lead to the inevitable bar crawl and nightclub entry. 

If you want a bit of a twist, you could book your group into a comedy club, where you can all be entertained before the blurry mess begins.

Day 3 doesn't need too much talking about, it purely consists on surviving and getting home. Some will go at the crack of dawn, eager to get back to their bed and their sofa, while others will linger throughout the day, especially if they feel they still want to tick something off before heading home.
