Quad Biking stag weekends: What to expect

About Quad Biking

A stag weekend quad biking is a great way of spending some quality time with your mates. It gets you outdoors and experiencing a stag do activity that always down well. All you have to do is straddle a compact mechanical beast and ride it mercilessly over all manner of terrain – slopes, dips and mud. Because that’s what quad biking is all about!

What to expect

Ozzy Osbourne was a fan before he almost killed himself, but I don't think a man who used to snort ants should be let within sniffing distance of anything fast with wheels. As for the rest of us motor freaks, quad biking is adrenaline fuelled fun and a must for any stag party.

Yes, quad bikes or ATVs as their sometimes called are more stable than they motorbike counterparts but equally tricky to master. So if you thrive on speed and a enjoyable, yet challenging courses or tracks a quad biking stag weekend experience is definitely for you. On arrival you will be given a full briefing on the rules, the safety procedures and quad biking techniques from a qualified instructor. You will then get kitted out with goggles, helmets and waterproof clothing before getting to grips with the controls of you quad bike. Once you've got the basics sorted and the need for speed becomes all consuming you can open the throttle and get that need for speed. As your confidence grows the tracks will get more demanding... and way more fun.

What our customers had to say about it...

The Stag company booked an excellent weekend for 8 in Cardiff. The Quad bike safari was amazing, nothing like the normal set course. It was a great ride through some tricky terrain and some open fields to pick up some speed. Also the team running the clay shooting were excellent! Casino and club entry were very useful too. A great weekend was had by all! - John Monk (Stag Company Trust Pilot)

Is Quad Biking easy?

Quad Biking is one of our most popular stag do activities in the UK, because it’s good messy fun, and very easy to take part. Everyone gets a full training session beforehand to ensure you know how to control and steer your bikes safely, and your session will be fully monitored by the professional on-site team, there to solve any problems, give you a push if you’ve got stuck, and shout at you if you get any mud on the tyres (not really).

Do we need driving licenses?

You don’t need a driving or motorbiking license for off-road Quad Biking, though some experience can obviously come in useful. All instruction is provided on arrival.

Can we combine Quad Biking with any other activities?

Because Quad Biking and Paintballing both often take place in the woods, you’ll often find that both are available at the same site, which is part of the reason why these are two of our most-requested stag do activities. So you can ride Quad Bikes in the morning, break for lunch, then do Paintballing in the afternoon. In some cases you might also get a discounted rate for both activities if you combine them on the same day.

Other activities can also be easily combined with Quad Biking, and the best people to ask about what’s available are our friendly stag do planners, who know exactly what’s going on in the city you’re visiting.

Is alcohol allowed?

Even though you’ll be off road throughout, riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be strictly forbidden, and if the venue staff do think you are, you may not be allowed to take part.

If you do want a couple of cheeky cans, save it until afterwards. We can organise door-to-door transfers for your group between your stag do hotel and the Quad Biking venue, so that everyone can chill and enjoy a few cold ones.

What clothing should we wear?

Quad Biking is a messy, messy activity. Especially if it’s been raining. Which is half the fun. So even though you’ll be kitted out with overalls, it’s always best to wear old clothes and footwear that you don’t mind getting dirty. And closed-toed shoes or boots, no flip-flops.

Do we need to wear helmets?

You will always need to wear a helmet when Quad Biking for reasons of safety. We all have differently-shaped heads of course, and some of us have sticky-out ears too, so if you think you’ll be needing a bigger helmet, make sure you tell a staff member in as loud a voice as possible to make sure they hear you.

How fast do the Quad Bikes go?

One of the most common questions we get asked about stag do Quad Biking is: how fast do the bikes go? And the answer is that it varies depending on the engine size. You may reach speeds of up to 50mph or so, but depending on the venue they may limit speeds to below that for safety. Have no fear though, you will go fast enough to get very muddy and have a great time.

What happens if it rains?

If it rains, you get wet, and even more muddy, simple as that. Very rough weather may require the activity to be paused, but in most cases you’ll just carry on, though the staff may ask you to slow down a little.

What is the terrain like?

These are All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) capable of handling pretty much anything. So you can expect woodland, muddy fields, hillsides, man made obstacles… all sorts. At some venues you may be following a circuit, at others you may have more freedom to choose your own route.

Do we need to bring anything?

Besides old clothes, you don’t need to bring anything for a session of Quad Biking except a sense of adventure. Overalls, helmets and bikes are all provided by the venue.

Are there any weight and height limits for Quad Biking?

Depending on the venue there may be some weight or height restrictions that apply for Quad Biking. As always, our helpful stag do planners are the best people to ask if you have any concerns. They can also offer advice if you have any queries about your helmet size - please note that for the purposes of customer service, all calls to the office are recorded.

How do we get to the venue?

Most Quad Biking venues are within a short drive, 30 minutes or so, of where you’ll be staying. You can make your own way of course, but many stag groups do prefer to take advantage of our convenient door-to-door transfer service.

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation (or some other pre-arranged location) and taken to the venue, then picked up again afterwards. Completely hassle-free, it’s a great value option that also means everyone in the group can relax and perhaps enjoy a few drinks afterwards with no need to worry about driving back.
