Gdansk stag do guide

Gdansk is great if you are looking for

  • A city-meets-seaside spot where you can sink pints in the Old Town one minute, and sink your toes in the sand the next.

  • Brilliant daytime activities that include the likes of paintballing, karting, a whole host of shooting experiences, and more ways to wake up the groom than he’d like.

  • An unbeatable nightlife that’s packed with cheap drinks, pumping bars, and sizzling-hot Baltic beauties.

Gdansk is the stag do secret gem that’s suddenly not so secret anymore – and let’s face it, it’s about time word got out about this top destination. Perched on the Baltic Coast of Northern Poland, this city has it all: big nights, epic days, and a beach thrown in for good measure.

With the Old Town’s cobbled streets, cheap drinks, cracking activities, and beachside fun all packed into one ridiculously stag-friendly weekend, you’ll be questioning why you’ve never been here before. Whether your group wants to hit the beer halls in all their glory, dive into high-adrenaline antics, or go all-out on an unreal night followed by a lazy sun-lounger session the next day, a Gdansk stag do is not to be missed!

Getting around

You’ll be pleased to know that getting to Gdansk is affordable, and there are a fair few flights to Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport from the UK. Direct flights from the UK are offered by Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Jet2, with flights departing daily from London Luton and London Stansted, Birmingham, Leeds, and Manchester.

From the Airport

From Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport, the city centre is around a 30-minute drive away. However, this all depends on traffic and whether your driver has strong opinions on speed limits. You can hop in a taxi, or book an Uber or Bolt ride online. If you want something a bit more exciting (it is a stag do, after all), get a party bus organised.

Public transport is cheap, but who wants to waste time figuring out timetables and wrestling suitcases onto a crammed bus? You’ll want to get straight to the action and start the stag do fun ASAP – and rightly so!

City Centre

Gda?sk is super walkable, so getting around the city on foot is a piece of cake. For times when you’re feeling lazy, a bit hungover, or just can’t face another cobbled street, there are plenty of other options available. Take your pick from affordable public transport like trams and buses, or if you’d prefer to get to your destination fast, there are also taxis, along with ride-sharing services from Uber and Bolt.

You’ll be able to buy tram and bus tickets from machines at most stops, in addition to kiosks, and ticket service points. If you’re after a one-way journey, the simplest way to pay is on board by tapping your contactless bank card on the card reader.

Alternatively, you can download the zbiletem.pl app and book your tickets online with your smartphone. This transport app offers a handy English language option, along with departure times and various ticketing options.

Larger Group Travel

If you’re planning a trip to Gdansk with a big gang of stags, we’d recommend booking your airport transfer in advance. It makes getting from the airport to your accommodation hassle free, and keeps the whole crew together.

We’ve got some top-notch options to kick things off in style – how about an epic party bus? Or if you want to really start things with a bang, go for the cheeky strip hummer transfer. Whatever you choose, these transfers are a foolproof way to make things completely legendary from the get-go.

Tips and ideas

Tips and Ideas

Our stag experts know this city inside out, so you’ll be in great hands when you book with us. Whether your group’s into action, nightlife, beaches, or just cheap booze, we can shape your perfect trip.

For now, here are some tips and ideas to help you make the most of this awesome Polish city:

1. Book your activities early

Gda?sk gets busy, and all the best stuff like shooting experiences, adrenaline activities, and bar crawls get snapped up fast. We’d advise you to get your first choice activities booked as soon as possible – especially if you’re planning a summer stag do. The last thing we want is for you and your group to miss out.

2. Have some cash to hand

While cards are widely accepted in Poland, it’s wise to bring some cash with you for smaller bars, street food vendors, and late-night spots. The currency here is the Polish z?oty, and having some notes with you will prevent awkward moments if your card decides to take the night off. It’s also good manners to have some cash at the ready for restaurant tips.

3. Book an Old Town bar crawl

The Old Town is compact, lively, and incredibly easy to drink your way through. It’s perfect for groups who want a decent variety without trekking miles between rounds. Beer halls, cocktail bars, pubs – it’s all there. Book a bar crawl and the hard work is done for you. There’s no faffing around researching the best watering holes, because your knowledgeable guide knows the greatest spots and will take you straight there!

4. Vodka tasting is a must

Poland takes its vodka seriously, and so should you! Get a tasting session booked, and a professional host will guide you through some of the country’s best vodkas. Just remember, Polish vodka hits differently! If vodka’s not your thing, we’d suggest visiting one of the city’s top microbreweries instead.

5. Fuel yourselves with a decent meal

Gdansk serves up proper belly-filling food at wallet-friendly prices you can’t quibble at!  Pierogi (tasty filled dumplings), burgers, schnitzel… there’s something for everyone! And whatever you pick will keep you going long into the night. And when those munchies hit at 2am? The kebabs here (locally known as szaszlyki) are favourites for a reason. If you want to throw yourselves into Polish cuisine, then we’ve got just the thing for you – a traditional two or three-course meal at a great city centre restaurant.

Nightlife

Gdansk’s nightlife is a proper mix of old-school fun and modern buzz. Here, you’ll find everything from traditional boozers and industrial bars, to late-night clubs and more; there’s certainly something for every kind of stag in this city. The drinks are uber-cheap, the crowds are lively, and the nights? Completely legendary.

Old Town

The bulk of the city’s bars and pubs are clustered around the Old Town and the nearby riverside areas. It’s a real collective of traditional beer halls, swanky cocktail bars, student hangouts, craft-beer specialists, and late-night venues. Best of all, they’re all within a short walk of each other, so you won’t have far to go when you fancy switching things up. Everything you need for a great night is located in the Old Town, so get ready for plenty of Polish vodka, affordable pints, and hazy memories.

Beach Bars

Fancy keeping things chilled? There are some great spots dotted along the beach if you want to grab a few sunset drinks. Even better, several places serve food too, making it a brilliant option when you’re feeling peckish. Look forward to stylish bars and terrace areas – some of which stay open late and host sets from top DJs. Oh, and don’t forget the cracking sea views!

Elektryków Street

For something quirky and different, you’ve got to head to Ul. Elektryków (which literally translates as ‘Electrician’s Street’). Once an industrial estate, this district is now a repurposed nightlife hub that features all manner of places for food, drinks, and partying!

Expect open-air bars, street food kiosks, and some of the city’s best places for live music, DJs, and big dance events. It’s a great shout for summer stag do’s, as you’ll be able to enjoy the many outdoor venues to the max.

Nightclubs

Want to keep the good times rolling into the early hours? Then heading to one of the city’s top nightclubs is a no-brainer for stag groups. Clubbing in Eastern Europe isn’t like your local place at home. Instead of sticky floors and cheesy pop, you’ll find massive clubs with multiple floors, state-of-the-art sound systems, and seriously impressive lighting. While there are a few clubs in the Old Town, most of the big hitters can be found around Bunkier, Parlament, and Cooltura.

Naughty Nightlife

Gdansk has its fair share of adult entertainment spots, and it wouldn’t be right to visit this city without a cheeky night out. You’ll find everything from gentleman’s clubs with drop-dead gorgeous dancers, right through to risqué shows that no one will forget in a hurry. If you’re planning on adding one of these spicy experiences to your itinerary, we’d recommend booking through The Stag Company to keep everything safe and fun. Leave the random street promoters to someone else, your big weekend deserves better!
